2012’s Most Played Karaoke Songs – Fresh Newcomers And Oldies Alike

There is always a list for everything, Most Sexist Person, Top Businessmen and the likes. Everyone loves finding out the best and worst about anything and everything. Likewise, here is the 2012’s list of most played karaoke songs and yes Adelle makes it big on this particular list. My list based on the one featured on “Lucky Voice” takes into account the total percentage of requests online, which not astonishingly, revealed three of Adelle’s album 21 as the top karaoke tracks.

Among the late additions to this list are LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”, One Direction’s ” What Makes You Beautiful”, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” and Kimbra’s “Somebody that I Used to Know”.

It is definitely reassuring to see brand new karaoke songs catching on because honestly how much more can you listen to Crazy by Patsy Cline or American Pie by Don McClean and even Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) day after day? It really doesn’t matter which part of the world you are singing in, the US or Japan, it seems karaoke classics are a definite hit and there is nothing wrong in repeating such tracks with plenty of gusto trying to catch the singer’s persona intact but after a point in time, it becomes mundane and the necessity for newer tracks is just too overwhelming.

2012 might have been the year of Adelle with her unique voice and composition that has been sung over, trudged and recomposed time and again by wannabe artists but in a couple of years, her lyrics will be deep fed into the magnanimous memories of karaoke machines worldwide. Until then though, karaoke lovers can marvel at matching tune to tune with 2012’s best, Adelle. Guess Daniel Craig too must have been singing to her tracks if she made it to the cover of Skyfall.

As always duets were a huge hit while they didn’t feature in the top of the charts. Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody that I used to Know” does break into this list and might just remain in the top 40 for some time to come. Then there is Olivia Newton and John Travolta’s ” Summer Nights” that continues to keep its poignant and soothing appeal in this list.

While Summer Nights doesn’t come in the top five list, it still continues to be a top favourite. Furthermore, 2012 continued to give respect to Bon Jovi’s “Livin on a Prayer”, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen as seen from the high percentage of demand on the internet. Such timeless classics are the sweetest of songs ever crafted that are also ultra-hummable.

So that was a total recap of the long list of top ten karaoke songs of the year 2012. Some might be a little astonished that a few worthy names are missing but fret not, those names are definitely in the top 25 list. Just don’t expect tracks like Gangnam Style to feature in this list. Thank god, there is a list where this Psy anthem doesn’t figure!
